Wildwood Lane

Has there ever been a place you've passed or glanced at that tugged a little at your curiosity? This was mine...So, in my imagination, this is what I saw in that old rundown Barn.

WILDWOOD LANE

All the way down Wildwood Lane,
stands a red, rusted, old tin barn
Past the picket fence, through the fields,
Where Rabbits live, Mice come play,
And the musty hay is soft and warm
Up in the loft, lives an old Hoot Owl
With great yellow eyes and long brown feathers
A Spider  spinning an ivory web
as Crickets chirp in rhythm together.
Not too far away is a cool, dark pond
Where little black bugs dance on the water
A bullfrog sits, croaking, on a lily pad
As a Butterfly floats on velvet wings
Across the ponds swims an Otter

If you go there when the sun is sinking
And the moon rises, full and bright
Your eyes will take in all kinds of wonders
As every creature comes to life
Humming, chirping, splashing and playing
A wondrous place for life to be
Their world seems to be unchanging
The anthem of music, the feeling of peace
Nighttime comes to the old tin barn
The bullfrog still sits on his lily pad
The beauty, ablaze  with  winking stars
The Rabbits and Mice, safe at home
The spider resting upon her web
And into the night the Hoot Owl roams
